The Higher In Life You Climb, The More Absurd The Hats Become

Wise words from Charlie Day (the short guy who is always yelling on It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia) at the Merrimack College commencement this week. He talks about his experiences at Merrimack, why you should try hard, etc. The usual stuff.

But he makes a wonderfully sad-but-true point at about the 3:00 mark in the above video. He talks about how silly the hats become as you climb higher up the ladder of success. There’s the Pope’s hat, the hat you wear at commencement, and Pharrell’s hat.

Aside from the hat part, the entire speech is quite entertaining and worth watching. Charlie walks you through three different stories about what he did after leaving college. It’s a page straight out of Steve Jobs’ speech at Stanford.

The Steve Jobs speech is embedded below for your educational enjoyment. After all, Daily Genius is all about helping you get inspired and learning in a very fun way. What’s more fun than commencement speeches!?

Jeff is an education and technology lover who has worked in far too many industries to count. Okay, like maybe 5 or 6. Jeff can indeed count that high but it's not recommended. Jeff also likes to write bios in the third-person.
