What If You Were Deaf? This Is What A Cochlear Implant Sounds Like

I am not deaf. That being said, I know many deaf people and have had more than a few as friends throughout my life. They have all had cochlear implants and those little bits of technology have a truly transformational effect. They allow (to various degrees) many to hear. It’s a beautiful technology.

But what if you’re not deaf and listen to the world through a cochlear implant? Probably nothing you’ve ever considered before … until now.

The video you see on this post illustrates what it’s like to actually hear using the implant – something that most of us would never get the chance to do during our lives. I love this video and it gave me some real appreciation for implants and what the deaf community works with on a daily basis.

NOTE: Fast forward to the 3:20 mark on the video to get to the implant part.
