what is the digital shift

So, what is the digital shift and how can we make it happen?

The digital shift is real. It’s the evolution of thinking, technology, and how they intersect. The current trend in classrooms (of developed countries at least) is to identify ways to start integrating education technology along with education trends like flipped classrooms, BYOD, blended learning, etc.

But what does a proper digital shift actually look like? The short answer: it’s what happens when your classroom and students start taking technology into account when doing just about everything. Homework, projects, lessons, etc. You get the idea.

This video does a fantastic job explaining the technological shift we’ve been seeing over the past few years or so. I remember when the shift first became increasingly visible in classrooms in New England but now it’s almost a given that most classrooms have at least talked about edtech integration. They may not all have iPads, Chromebooks, or even a BYOD setup but they’re making the digital shift, that’s for sure!
